Snow day at 11 weeks

Mateo decided to celebrate his 11-week birthday by ordering up a big day of snow! It wasn't his first snow, but it was his first substantial one and it pretty much shut down Portland for the day. We woke up yesterday morning and I pulled back the curtains while Sacha went to change the little guy's diaper....and what did I see but a world blanketed in white. It was a great surprise and we had lots of fun.

We had a wonderful snow day together - we had a cozy morning inside, which we spent mostly by putting up plastic sheeting over our freezing cold single-pane windows, and then had an outdoor adventure in the afternoon. We bundled up ourselves and the kiddo and walked down to Mississippi Ave to get a video and visit our favorite coffee shop.

We also had a couple of nice interactions with our neighbors - something about all being stuck in the same situation seems to lead to this - with one of them spontaneously bringing us pastries in the morning and another family stopping to chat on their way home in the afternoon. All in all, it was a great day!
