Ladybugs

Now that summer has finally come to Portland, we've been trying to get out and about more.  I mean, we're always out and about, but now we can actually be outside and about!  Anyway, this weekend we had a really cool park experience.  We went to Kelly Point Park, which is at the tip of where the Willamette and Columbia rivers meet.  We had brought the kids' bikes and were getting out of the swagger wagon when a young-looking guy asked if we were here for the ladybug walk.  He said it was a nature walk geared to three- and four-year-olds, and, as luck would have it, we have one of each!

So, we did the ladybug walk and we all had fun.  Mateo warmed up in no time and spent the whole hour chattering away to the guide about this and that.  We got to explore the park in a whole new way, discovering bugs, picking up trash, and wearing cool ladybug backpacks, too!  The kids had a great time.  I guess we must have been meant to go there, because we showed up right when it was supposed to start and we were the only ones, so we got the guide all to ourselves.  The whole thing got us excited about signing Mateo up for some kind of little nature camp later in the summer.  Here we are at the beginning of our little walk, reading a book about ladybugs.  Rosa was riding along in the moby wrap and was a great help in taking this photo :)
