Seriously??

We had a delightful day with the two Megans in our lives. We spent the morning with the Megan who is my brother's girlfriend, going to the coffee shop and the park and generally just hanging out. Then, we spent a fun afternoon with our friend of the same name, and her daughter, and their bunnies and chickens and at the park across the street from their house. One of their particularly mellow chickens even went down the slide at the park, wrapped in the arms of her preschooler caretaker. The kids got to feed the chickens, hold a bunny, run wildly around kicking a soccer ball, go on the swings, and play on the play structure. And, the adults actually got to have a real conversation, which is sometimes a rarity during playdates.

Then, just as we were crossing the street to go back inside and get a quick snack before leaving, Tali threw up. At first, we thought it was a combination of eating a bunch of barely ripe grapes and then doing a lot of bouncing up and down at the park...but then she threw up about five more times in the next hour. All I can say to that is BLECK to all involved. Now, she is finally and mercifully asleep and we're about to go to bed too, hoping not to be woken in the night by one of our children throwing up or by ourselves doing it!

Seriously, I can deal with a cold at the beginning of the school year, but do we really have to start off with the stomach flu? We were going to have dinner with some friends tonight, a grown-up dinner after the kids went to bed, and had plans to do our annual pumpkin patch trip with friends K and C tomorrow am. We're so bummed that our girl is sick, and also that our fun schedule is now out the window. Oh well - I guess that's just life with kids and you just learn to roll with it. That, and to obsessively wash your hands and entirely change your clothes every time your daughter throws up all over you.
