A Week Home from the Hospital . . .

We got home from the hospital a week ago today. Seems hard to believe that a week has passed since then, and that we actually have a baby son! Things have started to go much better in the past few days. Mateo is sleeping for longer and nursing is going better. We've really been enjoying having my mom here for the past week. She has been wonderful with the baby and teaching us all kinds of things about how to take care of him. She has also single-handedly organized our house and gotten us current on lots of things we need. We'll be sad to see her go. Sacha's mom is coming for a week starting on Friday and we're looking forward to that, too.

It has just been wonderful having the baby here. I have been loving seeing Sacha with him. She's so good with him and so proud to be his mom and I feel so lucky to be doing all this with her. She's supportive and patient and loving and seems like a natural with him. She was amazing during labor and has taken on all the new responsibilities of parenthood like she's been doing it all her life.

On top of that, the baby is just such a fun little guy. He's mellow and gentle and seems curious about the world around him - at least what he can see from 8 to 12 inches away! He's a good eater and seems strong for his age. He gulps down lots of milk and is learning to latch on better and better all the time. Even in the middle of the night, we love having him here with us and can't believe our luck that we have such a fabulous baby son. We'll add some more photos soon, as soon as we manage to upload them from the camera.
