Just a quick note to say that I took Tali in for her four-year well-child visit today.
An aside: we had had a brief excursion into the land of family-practice doctoring, which was great in some ways, but we could never get in to see our doctor, because she was so swamped. This meant that for anything that came up with the kids, we would end up having to take them to urgent care and wait for hours to be seen. We finally came to our senses and switched the kids back to pediatrics. We had the good luck to get back in with our beloved pediatrician. Her practice was closed, but she let us in anyway. Whew!
So, today was our first visit back with Dr. L. Natalia was pronounced to be in great health. She got four shots, and wow, she was amazing while she was getting them. She flinched a little but didn't cry at all. She didn't appear to bear any ill will towards the nurse afterwards either! She is a seriously tough cookie.
In terms of height and weight, she is holding steady at the bottom of the chart. She weighed in at 28 pounds even, which is the 2nd percentile, and at 36.5 inches, which is the 3rd percentile. Luckily, our doctor doesn't seem to be at all concerned about her tininess, and Tali perceives herself to be a Very Big Girl. She insisted on getting measured next to another little girl while we were at family camp, and even though the other kid was about a foot taller, Tali pronounced herself to be much bigger. It was adorable.
Now that Tali has turned four, she sees five as right around the corner. We think this is going to be a great year for her, and maybe she'll even crack 30 pounds at some point :)

Ah, not to worry. I clocked in at 31 lbs. and 39 inches at the end of first grade--right after my 7th birthday--and pretty much kept that "bottom of the charts" trajectory until my growth spurt... in college! But I never really felt unhappy about being small. Tali's attitude is right on: you are as "big" as you feel!
